It seems I've been drawing since I can remember and was first made aware of fine art through my father, who by trade was an antique painting and furniture restorer from Europe. He encouraged me to draw and it stuck. Later in life, I studied at the Glassel School of Art - MFAH in Houston, Texas.
I have spent much time studying the Old Masters and have developed a strong affection for the painting styles of the Tonalist, Luminist, and Barbizon schools. I have had a lot of exposure to the outdoors and love to paint the landscape in strong yet subdued color.
My studies typically come from real life scenarios through photography or actually painting on site. I use light to enhance intimate details, drawing the viewer into unknown places. - Tim Schneider
