Plein Air Workshop with Eric Jacobsen
  Oil or Acrylic
April 12th, 13th, 14th, 2019

$385

Study with nationally recognized artist and instructor, Eric Jacobsen of Oregon.  Learn color, composition, stroke, and edge.
Delight in studying the style of the Russian Impressionists.

There’s a reason Eric Jacobsen has taken home quite a few Artists
Choice awards, along with other top honors, from plein-air painting
events and exhibitions over the years. Fellow painters appreciate and
respect what they see in his work. “I know I’m not blowing other artists
away with my technique,” Jacobsen muses with characteristic humility
Yet here’s what painters tell him about why they’re drawn to his art:
They see something in it that is fresh, spontaneous, uninhibited, free.
They see loose, broad strokes that convey an immediate sense of mood
the elements, season, and time of day, which Jacobsen believes he can
capture only by setting up an easel and painting on the spot. Which
works out quite well, since outdoors is exactly where he most wants to
spend his time.
Jacobsen’s penchant for painting on location also reflects his admiration
for a long line of artists—landscape, figurative, or still-life—whose mastery
was due, at least in part, to painting directly from life.

Pan Pastels with Enid Wood
July 15th & 16th, 2019   9:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Class Size Limited to 10 Students
$150

ENID WOOD, PSA, PSNM

Texas artist Enid Wood is happiest when she is outside: walking,
eating, teaching, or painting. When inside, she likes looking out a
window, or painting landscapes in soft pastel. Raised in Colorado,
with summers spent in Santa Fe, Enid loves the colors, shapes,
and textures of mountains, rocks, clouds, trees, and meadows.

She studied still life and portrait painting at Westminster College
in Salt Lake City with Don Doxey. Her subsequent career as a violin
teacher took her to Berkeley, New Haven, London, Pittsburgh, and
Bastrop, TX. Ten years ago, inspired by the beautiful paintings and
places seen during her travels, she joined Albert Handell’s mentorship
program in New Mexico and became a landscape painter.

Her paintings usually begin with one color or an unexpected pair of colors.
The rest of the painting takes shape from that beginning. For Enid, the
vitality of each stroke evokes a mood, makes textures, and creates harmonies.
She enjoys finding a balance between the intuitive and analytical paths to art.
Enid also likes thinking about the creative process and is a frequent
contributor to Pastel Journal.

Enid’s work has won a multitude of local, national, and international awards.
She is a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and the Pastel Society of New Mexico.

Enid teaches painting workshops locally, regionally, and nationally and is in demand as a juror and judge for pastel exhibitions. Her paintings appear in private and corporate collections throughout the world.
